Implementing the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) On-Site: Practical Guidance for the Management and Maintenance Team

VAWA.jpg

VAWA violations often result in charges of Fair Housing discrimination, and on-site staff need to know how to manage and respond to applicants and residents who assert their rights under this law. COVID19 has impacted the incidence of domestic violence, leaving on-site staff even more exposed. This session will review the current requirements and forms used with residents and applicants and the latest guidance from HUD, RD, your state agency, and state laws protecting survivors. Difficult issues facing the on-site property management and maintenance team will be considered, and attendees will be challenged to solve real-world scenarios. The class will conclude with “Actions Needed” for HUD, RD, and Tax Credit properties.
