About the Opportunity

Federation Housing, a not-for-profit Real Estate Property Management and Development Company, is seeking a detail-oriented and organized Staff Accountant to support the financial operations of multiple housing entities. This role offers excellent long-term growth potential within a dynamic, well-established organization. This role is ideal for an experienced individual with strong accounting skills, excellent organizational abilities, and the capacity to work effectively with employees, vendors, government agencies, and the public.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain separate books and records for multiple corporate entities.

  • Reconcile monthly bank statements and financial accounts.

  • Prepare monthly balance sheets and profit & loss statements.

  • Review and process invoices, purchase orders, and vendor payments.

  • Manage ACH payments, online disbursements, and monthly check runs.

  • Reconcile project deposits, rent rolls, and tenant-related income.

  • Post HUD subsidy funds and other cash receipts.

  • Process escrow deposits and refunds related to resident move-ins and move-outs.

  • Prepare quarterly reimbursement documentation for Replacement Reserve accounts.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting.

  • 1-2 years of accounting experience, preferably in property management.

  • Working knowledge of accounting software and spreadsheet applications.

  • Strong understanding of general ledger accounting and budgeting.

  • Excellent organizational and recordkeeping skills.

  • Professional communication and interpersonal abilities.

  • Ability to work accurately and independently in a structured accounting environment.

Physical Requirements

  • Primarily sedentary office work.

  • Occasional walking and standing.

  • Ability to lift or move up to 10 pounds occasionally.

  • Ability to read documents and work extensively on a computer.

Compensation
