Fair Housing Compliance Virtual Session

A Comprehensive Course for Managers of Multi-Family Housing


The Fair Housing Compliance (FHC) course is a comprehensive program offered by the National Affordable Housing Management Association (NAHMA) for property management staff. NAHMA’s Fair Housing Compliance course provides managers with the information and understanding needed to comply with complex fair housing regulations.

Materials and Delivery: 

1. Course Materials will be sent via email or mailed prior to course date.

2. Virtual event information will be provided prior to the course start date.

3. Please ensure that you have highlighter and post it flags.

Online “Take Home” Exam Explanation:

Following the training, you will receive information regarding the take home two (2) hour certification exam that must be taken within 3 weeks of completing the course.

Individuals must pass this exam to obtain the FHC designation. The FHC is a requirement for NAHMA’s National Affordable Housing Professional (NAHP) certification program. All participants who successfully complete the course will receive a FHC certificate and pin, and be listed in NAHMA’s Online Credential Directory.

Course Schedule

The FHC™ is a virtual course program that is offered in a 1-day format, comprised of two 4-hour interactive sessions with a 15-minute break in during each session, and a 45-minute break for lunch. 

The schedule is as follows:

7:45 a.m. Sign-on

8:00 a.m.–10:00 a.m. Course Material Instruction

10:00 a.m.–10:15 am. Break

10:15 a.m.–Noon Course Material Instruction 

Noon–12:45 p.m. Lunch 

12:45 p.m.–2:30 p.m. Course Material Instruction

2:30 p.m.–2:45 p.m. Break

2:45 p.m.–4:15 p.m. Course Material Instruction 

4:15 p.m.–4:30 p.m. Instructions and Information for taking the On-Line Exam 

Instructor:

Heather Wezensky, CPO, FHC, SHCM, HCCP 

Senior Vice President of Compliance for STAR Compliance Consulting, a Division of Seldin Company 

Heather brings knowledge from both the property management and regulatory sides of affordable housing industry. She is a 29-year property management veteran; in addition, she has served as the previous manager for both the PBCA Section 8 Contract Administration and LIHTC Program Compliance departments within the Colorado Housing and Finance Authority (CHFA). Prior to that, she was a Project Manager with the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. Heather is an expert in Fair Housing practices and affordable housing program compliance rules and regulations. These skills allowed her to serve as an expert witness for a recent high-profile Federal Fair Housing property management case. Heather has first-hand insight into the latest affordable housing compliance trends all due to her on-site consulting work with multiple affordable housing programs, in addition to her company reviewing over 1000 resident files on a monthly basis. Her ability to comprehend the complex rules and regulations of the affordable housing industry, allows her to assist her clients across the country to stay compliant with not only state monitoring and government agencies, but also with Fair Housing laws. Heather is the past Chair of NAHMA’s National Fair Housing Committee and is currently the Chair of their Education and Training Committee.  She also sits on the SHCM™ Special Advisory & Technical Committee. Heather was given the distinct honor of NAHMA’s Industry Achievement Award in 2019 and is a current NAHMA approved CPO™, BCD™ and FHC™ Instructor.


Registration

Cancellation Policy: Registration fees will be refunded less a $50 processing charge if received in writing ten (10) business days prior to the seminar. Substitutions, but no refunds, can be made after that date.
