Facilities Team Specialist

WAA, a 501(c)3 nonprofit agency, is Philadelphia’s leading domestic violence advocate and service provider and among the largest domestic violence agencies in the country. The mission of WAA is to provide quality, compassionate and nonjudgmental services in a manner that fosters self-respect and independence in persons experiencing intimate partner violence and to lead the struggle to end domestic violence through advocacy and community education. With over 165 staff, WAA serves over 14,000 individuals each year through emergency residential services (2 - 100 bed safe havens and 15 transitional housing apartments), legal services, hotline counseling, aftercare community based services, prevention & education, and advocacy.

Position Overview & Responsibilities:

Provides oversight to the residential facilities (3 residential locations), including maintenance, restoration and grounds-keeping; housekeeping and sanitation. Directly supervises the facilities team members (Housekeepers, Maintenance Assistants, and Maintenance Technician) and will perform hands on housekeeping and maintenance assistance work at Sojourner House and other residential facilities as needed. All responsibilities will be implemented according to the mission and vision of the Agency. Including but not limited to: supports the Director of Property Management to ensure appropriate operations; ensures that the facilities remain clean & safe, and are in compliance with all related laws, regulations and funder requirements; assigns facilities work orders and records all work requests and assignments; ensures that productivity goals are assigned, and completed; records and advises the Director of Property Management on the completion of all preventative maintenance work; assists in the implementation of facilities and maintenance plans; schedules donation pick-ups and deliveries; provides leadership to staff in a manner that is consistent with the mission of the Agency, Sanctuary principles, and in compliance with policies; and provides support to and works closely with the Management Team to support client & staff. All responsibilities are implemented according to WAA’s mission and values and according to Agency standards, including the Sanctuary Model ®.

Qualifications:

  • A High School or equivalent is required.

  • A minimum of three (3) years’ experience in property maintenance in a residential or comparable setting is required

  • Some supervisory experience required.

  • Experience and knowledge of housekeeping/cleaning standards and Knowledge of physical plant systems and their upkeep and repair are required.

  • A valid Pennsylvania driver’s license is required.

  • Demonstrated written, oral and interpersonal skills are required.

  • Demonstrated proficient computer skills, use of Microsoft Office software, Outlook, Word, Excel

  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with a diverse population is required.

  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively as a team member is required.

  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively as a team member is required.

  • Will be required to attend & complete 45 hours of Domestic Violence Training, post hire.

  • Employment offer and continued employment are contingent upon satisfactory child abuse, criminal, FBI clearances and TB Test required (all related fees will be paid by WAA).

Schedule: Monday – Friday, 40 hrs/week. On-call during inclement weather and at times for facility emergencies

Salary: $40,000 if annualized, as well as a generous, comprehensive & extremely competitive benefits package
