Hot button federal fair housing issues that real estate management companies and owners need to know in order to limit liability and effectively operate under federal law.
This seminar will cover recent developments in the area of federal fair housing and discuss best practices to address these trends going forward. As an owner or manager of multi-family residential property, this seminar will also offer a detailed discussion of some of the most challenging fair housing issues facing the industry, including how to deal with hoarders, residents with companion/therapy animals, as well as various fair housing pitfalls during the application process.
MR. REED, is a partner with the firm of Ehrlich, Petriello, Gudin & Plaza, with offices in Newark,
NJ, Morristown, NJ and New York, NY. Mr. Reed has successfully represented and advised numerous property owners, developers, and management companies in New Jersey relative to all aspects of their business, including litigation matters, landlord-tenant issues, commercial and residential lease issues, land use matters, insurance issues, administrative proceedings, property
tax appeals, rent control issues and Fair Housing matters. Mr. Reed is an instructor with the Rutgers University School of Continuing Legal Education and has also lectured extensively on a wide range of real estate and housing law topics to numerous groups and associations, including the New Jersey Apartment Association, New Jersey Property Owners Association, MREIA, IREM, among others. He is the current President of the New Jersey Property Owner’s Association, a member of the New Jersey Apartment Association’s Legislative Committee and legal counsel to the Newark Apartment Owners Association.
